For the third season running, WQXR broadcasts highlights from the BBC Proms at Royal Albert Hall in London.
Join us Saturday, July 25 at 9 pm for the season opener in which Sakari Oramo conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra in a program that includes Walton’s pithy choral work Belshazzar’s Feast (with three choirs) and Sibelius's work of the same name. Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 brings soloist Lars Vogt. There's also a nod to Danish composer Carl Nielsen, whose 150th anniversary falls this year, with his overture to the opera Maskerade. And to round things out, a world premiere: Gary Carpenter’s six-minute Dadaville.
